AMERIKAM NAMED MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR BY WYOMING-KENTWOOD AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Exemplary Economic Development and Community Leadership are Key Issues
Grand Rapids, MI – Stephanie Leonardos, President & CEO of AMERIKAM, announced today that the Wyoming-Kentwood Area Chamber of Commerce has recognized the company as Outstanding Manufacturing Company of the Year for 2007. Ms. Leonardos will receive the Award at a celebratory dinner during the Chamber’s Annual Meeting at the Hilton Grand Rapids Airport on 28th Street SE and Patterson Avenue on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

Throughout its 74 years in business, AMERIKAM has experienced some unique and extraordinary opportunities to use its technology in researching and developing very meaningful products. Some of those products have made life easier for the handicapped, parts have gone to the moon, and some have recently helped soldiers on life support in Iraq. The company’s process technology, along with its R&D, have become recognized as a strong extension of its customers’ own product development. AMERIKAM’s capabilities include complete product development, from concept to manufacturing the final products, which requires a strong, creative workforce.

Today, AMERIKAM’s 70 multi-cultural employees represent the United States, Africa, Bosnia, Cuba, Mexico and Viet Nam. During 2007 members of Amerikam Team have served Wyoming through participation in the Youth Violence Initiative, the North Wyoming Business and Neighborhood Association and the National Night Out, an initiative that brought several area businesses together to enact a “neighborhood watch”.

AMERIKAM actively supports the Wyoming-Kentwood Area Chamber of Commerce through its participation in the Annual Business ‘n’ Books Day and the Elementary Speech Contest, and believes that supporting programs such as these assists the Chamber in its outreach to enrich the community. Ms. Leonardos, who serves on Ferris State University’s Commission for the Future, stated, “The collaboration between business and industry and the educational community is key to preparing a job ready workforce for Michigan. We see that as our duty and these programs have our full commitment.”

AMERIKAM has built a strong reputation as a company that gives freely of itself to this West Michigan community. Its commitment to education and training is highlighted by the 30 years in which it has partnered regularly with Ferris State University and Kendall College of Art and Design with students of design and engineering technology.

Amerikam, located at 1337 Judd Avenue SW, Wyoming MI, designs, develops and manufactures valves, precision components and products for flow control, defense and medical industries. Visit Amerikam on the web at www.amerikam.com.
