Manufacturing Engineer Manuel Vazquez (right) with Ferris student Nick Carrington (left)Nick Carrington, a student from Ferris State University’s Manufacturing Engineering Technology program, joined the Amerikam team as an intern for the summer. Nick performed a number of engineering support functions during his time at Amerikam. He assisted in organizing and restoring secondary operation setup bins and tooling, and he created process sheets and ordered tooling needed for each production to ensure that our operators have what is necessary to run each operation effectively and efficiently. He also helped by setting up fixtures and tooling to run production.

“I have learned a lot from working here. I’ve enjoyed being a part of the Engineering department and learning more about my career from those who have made this their career as well,” Nick says. “I’ve had the opportunity to not only use my knowledge, but also test it and learn from what I have experienced. I can take my Amerikam experience back to Ferris and apply methods to my next two years in the Engineering program.”

Amerikam appreciates the time and effort Nick put forth over the summer, and we look forward to seeing him during the Ferris/Amerikam Project next year.
